An Herbal Cake!

In celebration of my Husband’s birthday, we (my son Ben and I) made him a cake. Because he married an Herbalist, it’s an herbal cake!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAWe love him so, and wish him many more wondrous birthdays! We brought the garden inside to nourish our home’s love, and celebrate the love Erik always provides for us. Beautiful and simple indeed!

River Current Spirit!

One day, I was walking in the forest, and plopped myself down beside the water (something I commonly do whenever near water). I felt an immediate response to the water, as her rushing by me seemed to invigorate a certain sense of something. I felt suddenly heavy with a sadness (thinking of a friend), and it welled right up until I felt sunk in the middle. All of a sudden, the currents took what bubbled to the surface and flung it out and away, a River Healing.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERASo in return for the magnificent gift of the River, I have made her this prayer.

This is how

we keep the River clean.

This is how

we take in Air.

This is the Fire we

warm ourselves by.

This is the Earth,

a  Harvest Queen.

This is the movement

of Forest Essence

What beauty we are given, the magnificent gifts of the Forest. May we always seek to give back to her, may we be filled with GRATITUDE!

An Ode To A Sentient Mullein!

Verbascum Thapsus. You are a strange plant! You chose my lettuce/arugula/beet greens and pea box to grow. When I saw you growing as a young one, I was blown over what a huge baby you were last year. I was tentative to even say anything to anyone about you! I blessed you with my departed friends urn this last March…and something magical happened!

Here is the picture of the Blessing!

Angel Sightings! 003https://serendipityherbals.wordpress.com/2013/03/20/angel-sightings/

Magic is living! MAGIC IS ALIVE! This Mullein moves her position daily from left to right, forward and frontwards. She moves how she wants to move….a moving plant? A conscious plant? You bet!

For those who do not believe in these things, you haven’t loved, lived and participated with life on this level yet, so maybe this writing and pictures from my garden will inspire you to do so! Appreciate the love, in ALL OF HER FORMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAThere are dozens and dozens of medicines within the Mullein Plant. Some of them we discuss in the intro herbal medicine workshops, like ear infection oil. However, there is much more to Mullein than meets the eye (of course this Gigantic Mama is, plain to see!).

So, let’s take a quick peak at her child bearing hips. I tried my best to get comparison photos with my arms and hands for contrast, but it was difficult holding the camera and bending my body at the same time. All these contortions, and Mullein and I laughing in joy together!

Look at her flower spike towering over my head!

Love Begets Love, and look at this honkin’ Plantain growing under this Full Goddess-y  Mullein!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIf you look closely at the plantain picture, you see my hand underneath, fully outstretched.

If you have a garden, go out and BLESS all the Living Beings right now! Bring your love to the growing, and you might just find, the Fairies do all the work! EN-JOY your plants IN JOY!!!

A State of Sitka Holiness!

Searching for Holiness IS an empty experience. Realizing Holiness is a whole other experience, filled with EVERYTHING! For we are that, we are already Holy. All life is Sacred, and we are in that space!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAHere is my friend and fellow student, Jody S. showing us an example of Sitka and Jody Holiness! Living in rhythm, hearts in tune, open to wild nature, the whole spectrum of nourishment. The Greatest LOVE, HOLY LOVE, we all are a part of. Soul nourishment is Holy nourishment, we have always been Holy, we are Holy, and we are always Home!!!

Dismissing the “Myth of the Brutal Savage”.

While all races have their fierce warriors, I think it is time to let go of stereotypes that hurt us all!

http://www.survivalinternational.org/articles/3289

That most tribal people live in a state of warfare is false. We know this from the simple evidence of species in our forests! From her standpoint, this is NOT TRUE! From the botanical record of plant human interactions, a whole new story emerges of careful, reverent care-taking….and that could only come from love…love for a Mother!

Walking the forest, we become aware of the interactions between plants, insects, animals and humans. We become AWARE!!!

Industrialized society is not necessary healthier or safer or more civilized…

I’ve always felt keeping things smaller in families and local groups where love is shared and autonomy is valued is the safer, and more civilized bet…whether it be traditional society or a local band of friends and neighbors!

Gracious Gratitude this Summer Solstice!

I think we, as humans are amazing beautiful creatures, but human, none-the-less.

We all have our foibles to contend with, and we all have our beautiful gracefulness to uncover.

We all have the capacity to lift one another up! We all have the capacity to be the enablers of our own growth and nourishment.

“Gratitude is the Memory of the Heart” ~ Jean Baptiste Massieu

In moving, and striving, in dark fertile soils and bright sunlight, we have the capacity to stand tall as trees, gracefully moving in the breeze, and living that sort of life. Interdependently we play while nourishing our individual roots. Bringing life and love to this Summer Solstice with clear intention and love, as Herbalists of Heart, we focus on that.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So BLESSINGS to you, all Beautiful Beings! Bring clear intention and love to your celebrations of Summer Solstice, and allow what is beautiful and noble, strange and magnificent, to grace your day, and the new season of life that begins. We flow with the seasons, giving nods to the delicacies and tenderness, the beauty we find growing under rhubarb, and a graceful life, where the livin’ is well nourished!

Above is a picture of Wild Veronica, that made her home under a Rhubarb plant given to me with love last Solstice. 🙂

Hallelujah!

Lately, I hear much talk about “letting go”. I prefer, instead of “letting go” the term “letting forest”…for there is nothing to understand about our lives that is more poignant than understanding the forest and her creatures, all here, because of the LOVE within Creation.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

As we move on-wards and upwards, and deep-wards, into soils fertile and dark, we see a very real truth: that of our judgement and that of our discrimination. Judgement is always the realm of those who will judge, but in quiet forest stillness, we find nature doesn’t judge, she discriminates, and moves in tiny movements toward sunlight and fertile nourishment. Small movements equal dramatic and grand gestures of harmony amongst plants, insects, and animals. The forest stillness then erupts into laughter, for its filled with noise of creatures and beings we didn’t notice before. As quiet as a wolf watching a human, until the birds chatter “she’s okay, she’s okay, she belongs!” The forest erupts into bustling and noise, with Trillium triangles beckoning to be made love to, and other Trillium triangles saying “I’m well satisfied for this year.”

Into the bloom, the ruckus and roar of legs scratching posts, pollen filled pointy dots of fluorescent colored sprinklings, petal tongues hanging out laughing, birds pooping, gentle wings flapping, babies chirping for mom’s, animals mating, wolf pups playfully tumbling, bees making honey and hornets attacking, rotting wood homing centipedes, maidens letting their hair down, and everywhere, Every-where,  EVERYWHERE there is LOVE!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

So, lend me an ear, to the forest stillness! Lend me an ear, to the cycles of life! Lend me an ear to the silent emptiness frothing in noise most sublime….and let me say, from not my mouth, but my heart, and my mouth should she want to join in, HALLELUJAH!!!!

Planting Love Workshops, Coming in July!

Sometimes the beauty of life, and the passion, is found inside-out.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAt other times, the beauty of life is found where no one else can see…

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAIt’s very easy to overlook, what seems so olde and so common.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERALooking close, and closer still, we see the red lips of the Universe, giving us a great, big kiss! And we know that love, is only, ever, a

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAheart beat in tune!

Whatever grows inside, in-between and without, may it be full of the wild beauty of love! Plant it, always with love! The Planting Love Workshop series is a sitting with plants in a delicious dynamism of communion and understanding. Working with these individuals in a deeper way, we open ourselves to our shores, our mountains, our forests, the wisdom of our land. We open to our land, to the plants, and ourselves!

Protecting Our Forests!

We Oregonians and Washingtonians are watching our last old growth stands sold to commercial logging companies for pennies and destroyed…along with all the fancy delish mushrooms, cancer killing mushrooms not even cataloged yet, wild flowers that have become rare, and wildlife that is the last of the truly wild….HOWEVER, the pennies for selling our wild heritage is keeping the illusion of state and federal budgets limping along in a slower decline. Might I add, this has happened in China and India, we’re simply following in “their” footsteps, …a corporate owned economy sells our heritage from right under our feet. Our heritage, our health, our children’s future. Not even getting into the right to life for other species, is this possibly enough of a sell for others to step up and care? I will say this, one of the beautiful things about being an American, is that we set aside certain public lands to retain our roots to a wild heritage and a strong, pioneer/self reliant identity. Politics will buy and sell us like feed lot cattle in a heartbeat…there should be enough cultural ties at this point for more Americans to start focusing some patriotic energies onto saving the “last” of our wild~lands. So sayeth the Hungarian~Cherokee Lorax Wolf Woman of Vancouver, Washington!
