Our 7th Year Warm Hello to the Beautiful Red Salmon Bliss Fish Group and Fellow Wild Foragers, Hunters and Wild Eaters!
It’s our 7th year Salmon Bliss Order! It’s time we gather together in anticipation of an amazing harvest from our favorite local Fisherman and Fisherwoman Couple, who head back up to Alaska to fish in their Families Fisher Peoples Co-op!
Still, one of the world’s cleanest and most monitored watersheds, we are blessed with this nutritious and delicious food, in this beautiful world, with the helping hands of all, supporting each other from catch to delivery.
The shipping and processing costs have stayed the same from last year. Our price has been consistent year to year because we participate with our Fisher Family, to make sure they are supported.
If you wish to order, please get back to me ASAP so I can start compiling information….we MUST have our order gathered and paid by May, 25th, 2016. Please help to keep this organized for the group…..think hard, think fast, and get back to me ASAP! I will follow up your order with payment details!
A Deposit of $105 per each 20 lb Share Box is due in my hands by the order cut-off date (May 25th), the second fish payment prior to Salmon Fish Bliss Delivery!!! 🙂 Feel free to spread this around in your groups, with your families, friends and neighbors!
Please note the change from 2015, we are unable to divide fish orders into smaller amounts for people this year as in years previous, but friends and family can buddy up to make their own fish splits!
To Order, simply email your order to lemonlotus@gmail.com. I will respond verifying your order, the amount due, and my address. Upon receiving your fish deposit, I will notify you that your order is placed. Our second half of fish payment will depend on how large our group order is!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Any questions? Send an email! Please be aware, I spend much time foraging and teaching in the field, so please be patient with me as I answer questions and get information out to everyone! Thank you for supporting local and regional wild foods!

My Grandfather’s Love Forever Lives!

My Grandfather’s Love Forever lives!OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

We have forgotten something very essential in our culture. Our connection across generations.

Between institutional living, daycare, eldercare, outsourcing our whole lives, we have lost essential connection in our communities.

I feel so very blessed to have lived with my Grandparents when I was young, and to have been shaped by them. They passed on very essential knowledge’s from farming, living off the land, foraging, healing, and a great dearth of knowledge.

As an Herbalist, with my training starting at three years of age, there were times I didn’t understand, and felt very, very different. What I didn’t understand as a child, was how sacred and holy the experience of our previous generations of family.

Now, that I have been thinking about this this week, and the hard sell of industrial culture to our current generation of children, I see how culture is broken when families are segregated within themselves.

This is a bid for love. I am not talking about abusive families here, I am speaking of real tradition that is handed down. My Grandfather Iván taught me the love of working with my hands, and even the most humblest of creations to eat or wear or to decorate our home were honored fully. The simple fully honored, with love. He honored everything I did, my job as a Herbalist is to honor others in the same way, I carry his love forward.

And yet, I scratch my head, feeling so different growing up was hard to reconcile. How our culture, generally, doesn’t honor the person who cares for others, nourishes others, makes a home for people. Our culture does not honor growing things, or loving others fully, or really, living in deep connection with Spirit. Distilling this out a bit more, our culture, simply, does not seem to honor people anymore. Right to existence must be bought with the selling out of oneself to a paradigm that doesn’t see us as people, living in a shared sacred world.

There was a time, and still is, when people took care of their families, their living and their dead. As  always, when our family gathers, a chair and a table spot is left open for our departed. And we join together in many ways, here and later. Any healer, any traditional herbalist knows this. And over this, we ask for the Blessing.

Blessing over Elders and Young Ones, Blessing of love over our families, great, far and wide, and throughout generations. May one learn about the deeper blessing that lives in our hearts.

Thank you for helping us with this clearing and catching up project!

Saving THE Earth Isn’t Quite Helpful…

The climate is changing (definitely, everyone who grows anything can tap into that seeing). The air is murkier and growing more toxic. The soil more stripped down. The water, polluted. Radiation at unprecedented levels from man-made ideas. Less and less wild plants, wild forests and wild animals.

There seems to be, amongst many of the general populace, a Great Forgetting. What is forgotten is LIFE. The life of all, just completely forgotten. In a drive for progress and growing economies based on anti-life principles, we’re endangering our whole human community, and many other close communities.

I wonder, who doesn’t feel the devastation of multitudes of beings in a ruined old-growth forest, in which we have so little of anymore? Who doesn’t feel for all the animals, or the future generations of beings, great and small? Is there a way to “save” the environment? “Save” the earth?

I do NOT believe so! We will not “save” *THE* for anything, whether it be *the* environment or what we name Earth. As long as we think we’re “saving” something, we betray ourselves, we betray our home. For, if it is a “The”, than it isn’t ALIVE with SOUL. To know where we come from, where we are, lungs that actually do need fresh air, local food to eat, living around and living in and on HER, where did the “Saving The” come from? How about a “thank you” instead? A declaration and behavior of respect?

A description of a mentality, from far, far away. The sort of mentality that designs experiments moving DNA around in lifeforms like they are beings made of cardboard, with no regard to the unique nature of each Being. Experiments, culture removal, humans and other beings put in petri dishes. After a certain amount of manipulation, it seems the Humans themselves have forgotten where they originate from, where they live every moment of the day! They left off the brotherhood and sisterhood of other Beings, and viewed the world from a far away from life angle lens. “Saving THE” or “Saving Ourselves and Fellow Beings”. “Manipulation Of” or “Reciprocity” with our environment. Believe me, she is part of us, no matter what we trick ourselves into thinking! We are all certainly a part of the land and reflect that in our relationship with one another.

Herbalism is an ancient path of 40,000 years and counting! For everything, there is something, and for every beautiful experience, there is even deeper beauty. This is the essence of communion, bio-regionalism, of the Life of Herbs. The life of Herbs as Beings. Our bodies as Beings. Love being the stamp of the Creator. Love and Life.

Next time you’re thinking about what you can do to “save” the environment, go contemplate in your backyard/balcony/window sill/community garden, and while you tend, love what you grow. That Spirit of Abundance will carry the human race further, and be beneficial for the non-human communities. That simple state will bring a reduction of fossil fuel/foreign energy needs, and will produce sustenance, both of the Spiritual and Material kinds!!! Health is reciprocal!!!

2013 Community Red Salmon Bliss Order!

This Community Red Salmon Bliss Order is our 4th one! We’re getting together to do this, so please, if you can volunteer time for fish divvying, we could use your help!

FOLKS!!! ILIAMNA TIME!!!! It’s time! Gather in the Community for an honorable and large fresh fish buy! Prices are being decided upon right now, and will be coming out within a couple weeks, but start thinking NOW what you want to order, even get a tentative order in with me, as we won’t have much time for money collection! This year, we’re shootin’ even higher for fish shares, as our price  drops the more we order, and it is a fantastic deal, and the freshest fish (our FisherMan and FisherWoman go up and fish and bring back to Portland area.

I’ve done my best capturing everyone who wanted to be on this fish announcement, but please spread around with your friends, neighbors and families, and if I have missed your email, please let me know so I can add you!!!

$ a lb with a $ discount per a share box (20 lbs) for our buyers club! We gotta get crackin’, because we must have half of the money for deposit in their hands before June 1st! Our Fisherman and Fisherwoman, live in Portland part of the year, and then go up to Alaska and fish (where their families are from) and in a well known fishperson co-op network. Fishing is done in the freshwater lake of the Illiamna Watershed, and the fish is Marine Stewardship Council certified.

Iliamna watershed is unique in that it is constantly monitored by wildlife biologists, and no fishing is allowed unless the spawning season is successful. Our Fisherfolk have tiny boats, and unlike the larger salmon boats, do not hold mega amounts of fish in cold ice water until getting to shore. They also fish in shallow water, meaning your fish, is caught, bled, immersed in ice water for a maximum of 1-6 hours before being filleted and flash frozen directly on the shore.

Iliamna does not dip fish in preservation chemicals to make them last longer, unlike the industry standard for most fish. And best yet? This ain’t no pink salmon, but red salmon! Read more here:

http://www.redsalmon.com/

We LOVE pink salmon, don’t get me wrong! BUT red salmon is the richest in omegas and antioxidants and I have not tasted salmon equivalent to Illiamna yet, altho’ I bet Lummi’s wild is similar goodness!

For fish shares, it works like this. A whole box, 20 lbs, is $. Half of that is due, in my hands by Friday, May 25th. The other half will be due for delivery (TBA) sometime in the first week or so of August, depending on their fishing season and when they come back. Once deposit money for the group is made, we will set up an exact delivery date with them.

Everyone is required to be at the pickup, when the date is set, or to make arrangements with a fellow friend, buddy or family member, as the fish delivery is large! As we get closer to the delivery day, we will need to have volunteer hands for weighing and dividing.

We have done these group orders for the past two years, and I have never had one non-delighted person show up! Really, fresh salmon does not get better than this! The fillets are vacuumed sealed, frozen, boneless, and so fresh, I eat some of my salmon raw after it comes. If you’re used to fishy tastin’ salmon, you will be in love!

Order as soon as possible, email your order to me (Summer Michaelson), and when I receive your order I will send you back an email with details for sending your deposit, amounts and etc.

Any fish that is not fully paid for by pickup time will be offered to others in the group for purchase. If special arrangements for pickup need to made around work or vacation, let me know and we can look into options.

Total share prices are:

Whole Boxes (20lbs)
Half Boxes (10lbs)

Quarter Boxes (5lbs)

Fish Excitement!!!!!!!!! Please feel free to pass onto anyone who might be interested!!!
